From Savings to Stronger Families: JMT SACCO and KAWA CONNECT Empower Musuula Group in Jinja City

JINJA CITY, UGANDA | 1 November 2026

JMT SACCO is taking financial empowerment and digital learning directly into communities, helping families build a better future through purposeful saving and improved educational opportunities for their children.

Today, 10 active members of Musuula Group in Idogolo Village, Jinja City, participated in an engaging community session on Saving With Purpose and the KAWA Home Learning Programme.

The session was facilitated by JMT SACCO staff members Bernard Ogot Mugen and Robert Ngobi, who visited the community to strengthen member engagement, promote financial discipline and introduce practical ways parents can support their children's education at home.

Saving With Purpose: Turning Small Savings Into Big Dreams

During the discussion, members welcomed the importance of saving consistently towards specific family goals rather than saving without a clear plan.

Participants identified several dreams they hope to achieve through disciplined saving, including:

  • Completing their family houses.

  • Paying school fees without unnecessary financial pressure.

  • Purchasing land for future development.

  • Building stronger and more financially secure households.

The discussion reinforced a powerful message: wealth creation does not always begin with large amounts of money. It begins with a clear goal, commitment and consistent action.

KAWA Home Learning: Bringing Education Into Every Home

Another exciting part of the visit was the introduction of the KAWA Home Learning Programme, an initiative designed to help children access educational videos and digital learning materials from home.

Members warmly welcomed the programme, expressing optimism that it would help their children understand difficult school topics, revise lessons and improve their academic performance.

Through KAWA CONNECT, families can access educational content using compatible devices, including offline learning materials distributed through flash disks and memory cards.

The programme creates an opportunity for parents to become more actively involved in their children's education, even where continuous internet access is unavailable.

More Than Savings: Building Stronger Communities

The Musuula Group engagement demonstrates JMT SACCO's broader vision of supporting households beyond financial transactions.

By combining financial education, savings mobilisation and home-based digital learning, JMT SACCO is developing a community-centred approach that connects financial stability with educational opportunity.

The visit also highlights the important role of JMT's field officers in bringing practical knowledge and services closer to members.
